Description
The Persula Foundation provided financial support towards the production of the
video The Future's Theirs : Education and Your Deaf Child. Aimed at deaf parents
of deaf children, it explains parents rights in education at an accessible language
level and largely through the medium of sign language. Involvement of deaf parents
illustrating, through their own experiences, the choices they have made enables
the message to be projected to many deaf parents in their first language - that
of British Sign Language.
The presentation is supported by clear voice overs and subtitles to increase
the potential audience to those deaf parents using English. Of primary importance
is the desire to communicate the choices open to deaf children approaching school
age clearly and visually - to a group who are often excluded from the usual channels
of information and advice.
